The book is written in a straightforward way with little fluff, so it should hold a teen's attention without sounding preachy. Also, author Gisela Hausmann stresses the importance of writing thank you emails and teaches teenagers that an email should not be about me, me, me, but about what you can do for someone else. This is great advice and should truly make a difference for teenagers entering the professional world.
I would recommend the book for teenagers, young adults, college students, and even adults. It would also be a great source to keep in school libraries...."

Learn How To Write Effective Emails to Succeed in Business

This is a solid, well-written, well-edited how-to instructional book, primarily for students and young people preparing to enter the job market, but it also is good advice for any of us when we are trying to get the attention of people whom we've never met, but are seeking guidance or assistance from.
There also is a group whom I wish would read this book to learn the right way to word an email inquiry seeking my review of their product or book.
I probably get a dozen or so poorly written inquiries every day. If I don't learn by the end of paragraph one what it is that the emailer wants me to review, I trash the email. Pity that person who didn't read NAKED TEXT Email Writing Skills for Teenagers.
Aside from that tip, to show you some of her no nonsense writing style, I have excerpted Part 6, Tip 1:
TIP 1 : is probably the most important tip of this entire book: READ IMPORTANT E-MAILS OUT LOUD TO YOURSELF! Listen to yourself and decide, if the e-mail sounds p olite, p leasant, and p rofessional.
Although I certainly agree with the importance she places on reading the email aloud, there are a number of other excellent tips in this book.
I also suggest that she put the book into an audio book through audible.com because I believe the critical aspects will be learned better through hearing them read by the author or a professional narrator.
Until she does compile this as an audiobook, though, reading her tips will be worthwhile to anybody wanting to get ahead in this competitive business world.

Author Gisela Hausmann explains why Emails need to be done properly. In the past secretaries guarded the door to their boss. They could put a letter on the bottom of the stack or the top. Senders wanted their letters to stand out and spent a lot of money on stationary and other products that would insure their letter was the one on top. The same thing is true of our emails. They must look professional to be taken seriously. Currently texting is the rage. It is fast and easy but it is not professional looking. Emails are tools, “Emails open doors to wherever you want to go.” There are 7 basic parts to an email,:
1. The sender’s name.
2. The best time to send an email.
3. The attractive & effective subject line.
4. The Greeting
5. The spelling of the recipient’s name.
6. The body of your email.
7. The ending salutation & signature.
The author discusses each part in detail. She also discusses the need for correct spelling, checking for typos and do not abbreviate words like you do in a text and make sure you use the correct works.
Naked Text is a book teens will find invaluable. The information in this tiny book is important. I often find myself typing quick emails and after reading this book realize how unprofessional they look. I will take this information seriously and begin writing professional looking emails. Naked Text should be in all high school libraries and should be on the reading list. Well done Gisela Hausmann.

A Whole New "Naked" world of writing: Teaching Business Writing Skills to Teens

Stepping into a classical academy midway through 3rd quarter, I teach four sections of focused, high powered seniors from rural and summer resort outskirt towns near the Metropolitan heart of Western NC. My students have college paths in place, plot beautiful essays, and can shoot texts and IMs at bullet-train speeds. Yet many stumble to communicate effectively when seeking job opportunities, grant applications, internships, scholarships, and general business correspondence. They simply aren't sure what to say, or how to say it.
Into this yawning gap between students' everyday peer communications and highly structured academic discourse in class steps cut-to-the-chase author Gisela Hausmann, with her "Naked Text: Email Writing Skills for Teenagers." Paired with Ms Hausmann's "Naked Words 2.0: The Effective 157 Word Email," my students reap the benefits of her clear, concise prose, and her candid assessment of the changing nature of 21st century communication conventions. These two brief but worth their weight in gift card dollars or gold bridge that gap that so many of Gen X and up had to learn on the fly as the technology emerged.

Should this slice of Seminar prove as effective as I think it will, the sophomores may get a glimpse of "Naked Text" and "Naked Words 2.0," as well.
