Donna Franceschild is a British-based television writer and dramatist, originally from the US, whose 90's TV-series Takin' Over the Asylum won the 1995 BAFTA award for Best Serial and Best Editing, RTS Award for Best Writer, Mental Health in the Media Award and the Scottish BAFTA for Best Serial and for Best Writer.

Stands the Test of Time

I am a really big fan of the series so I was interested in seeing how a multi-espisode series would translate to a two hour play 20 years later. The author did an excellent job of keeping the heart and soul of the series. Of course as with most books or in this case series that is condensed you do lose some favorite moments, but the wonderful characters and poignant moments were not lost. I just wish I could see this play produced here in the States.
